Spring jackets from GunStreet Vintage!

Is it still cold in your neck of the woods? Montreal is expecting 25cm of snow today so if anybody can attest to those winter blues it’s this gal! BUT, GunStreet has a bunch of darling lightweight jackets that’ll put a spring in your step! The best part? By the time snail mail delivers your package the tulips will be in full bloom!

Shop by decade on GunStreet!

We rang in the new year by testing a new cataloging method on GunStreet – you can now shop by decade (60s, 70s, 80s), instead of by garment category (dresses, tops, skirts).

We reckon that if you’re hip enough to be browsing vintage threads on Etsy, you’re probably pretty in-tune with your personal style! Do you enjoy the boxy cuts and pastel colours of the 1960s? Does Janis Joplin’s style make you dream in psychedelic colours? Perhaps you have a penchant for 1980s glam rock nostalgia and acid washed denim? Then again, the 1990s might have you hooked on fishnets and cropped tops

Let us know what you think!

Once upon a time, circa 2011, someone wore a pair of denim cutoff shorts and a flower crown to a music festival.

Exhibit A

Being original in an age of copycat fashion is a challenge that many are not ready to face. Putting together a look-du-jour can be daunting to those who’ve yet to discover their sense of personal style, which may explain why many opt for ready-made outfits (read: whatever the mannequins in the F21 window are wearing). This takes us back to that darned music festival in or around 2011. That one girl looked so cool that suddenly everyone thought they could throw on the shorts the cropped top and the crown and be just as cool. False. You might look the part, but you’re the sartorial equivalent of cheez whiz on a hamburger.

So I dare you to check out your local thrift shop for unique threads that are sure to put you in a celebratory mood after all the coins you spent on your festival passes! The trick is to mix and match trendy pieces with unexpected ones. Take inspiration (but do not copy) the photos above: Alexa Chung pairs her Hunter boots with a sparkly minidress, Leandra Medine pairs trendy white sneakers with a colorful draped dress.

Shout out to Joni and Leonard, looking fly always!

GunStreet’s First Ever Pop-Up Shop!

On the weekend of May 14-15, GunStreet hosted a first ever Pop-Up event at Brock-Art Boutique in Montreal. The boutique, which specializes in up-cycled decor and vintage curiosities all the while showcasing local artisans, was gracious enough to let us set up shop for the weekend. It was a hoot!

It’s hard to believe that my little hobby shop is growing into such an exciting project!  It’s hard to believe that so many bloggers, artists, and local fashionistas are taking an interest in my enterprise which, until now, was a solo project conducted anonymously through the internet!

It’s amazing how many doors open up when you step outside of your comfort zone!
